6/14/09 - Yay
Great news. You can stop voting on Flashrock. We have been contacted by Flashrock and are in the process of setting up a recording date, probably towards the end of July. We do not have all the details yet, but I will put everything here as soon as we learn more about it.
In the meantime, sit back and relax. Rest that voting finger.

6/7/09 - Yeah Yeah
I know, so much for that updating three days a week thing right? Truth is, well, I am running out of news at the moment. Djinn is just writing, practicing and looking for shows. I had intentions of using this site as a blog-type environment as well, which would definitely provide more content, but it feels strange writing about my personal experiences on a site designed for band news..... Then again, who cares? Let's try it. I want to bring attention to two signed artists that just released new albums that I feel deserve some attention. If you've never heard either of these bands, then get on your headphones and start downloading.
Isis - Wavering Radiant:
The band has a style of music that I can only describe as a "wall of guitar noise." It literally feels like a solid wall of sound is coming out of your speakers and hitting you in the face. And on this wall, there are all sorts of imaginative pictures painted with eery melodies and a strong vocal presence. Isis will occasionally explore another time signature or mixup the straight-forward rhythm a little. It happens to be just enough for the music to remain compelling throughout the seven-plus minutes that their songs sometimes are. With the release of Wavering Radiant, Isis continues a tradition of solid rock albums that will not disappoint those looking to be hit by walls. The good news is that no matter which album by this band you decide to listen to, you're guaranteed a great tune.
Next up is Mastodon - Crack the Skye:
This one has actually been out for a few months. I believe the official release date was March or April. If you are one of the people out there who hasn't actually given this album a listen, then I think it's time for you to GO GET IT. Don't waste any time. Go to your local record store and buy it. If your store is closed, then Itunes is open 24/7. No excuses. Mastodon is brutal and unpredictable in the most glorious way imagineable. They play music like they belong in an insane asylum. I don't know how they come up with half of the stuff that they write but I am glad that they do it. Crack the Skye sees the band only improving in their writing ability. Once again, this album is amazing. Go buy it.
Also, if you have a moment, give us a few more votes. We're almost at the 500 mark. Less than 100 to go! There. Come back later for more mindless rambling.

5/29/09 - Flashrock
We are so close! As of this writing we are about 150 votes away from reaching the 500 vote mark on Flashrock.com. After that, it's only a matter of time before we are given the chance to record a live video of several songs for everyones viewing pleasure. If you have ten seconds to spare, head over to Flashrock and VOTE for us.
Thanks

5/25/09 - I Told You It Would Be Epic
As expected, the Sleepingboy CD release show was absolutely fantastic. In fact, I can say with complete confidence that that was the most fun I've had playing a show in California. All of the bands were amazing, the atmosphere was engaging and the club didn't try to charge anyone $500 for a 25 minute set. I applaud Silver Factory Studios for an amazing job. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the show and actually stuck around until 3AM to watch us wrap up our set. I hope you had as much fun as we did.
If you didn't make it out, you can catch a video of our cover of Turn the Page, by Bob Seger on Youtube.
See ya

5/20/09 - Friday Will Be Epic
There is a Djinn show in two days. Here is the deal:
One of the things that I love most about playing in a local rock band in Southern California is getting to meet a ton of other artists and trading cd's with them. Every now and then Djinn will stumble onto a group that raises the bar in terms of what an unsigned rock act can accomplish. The latest cd I've managed to get my hands on is the new Sleepingboy album, Lights Out and, I just want to say that it is awesome. I'll talk more about it in the near future but right now let's talk about the upcoming show on Friday.
If you want to hear the Sleepingboy album for yourself, come out this weekend, because this is their CD release show. Not only will we be playing itl, but Opus Dai will also be there! So you're looking at Opus Dai, Sleepingboy, and Djinn all in the same night for only $8. There is nothing better than that happening on Friday and you know it. Here are the show details:
5/22/09 - 9:00PM
Silver Factory Studios
915 Mateo, Los Angeles, California 90021
